Creating a Bedroom Sanctuary
You can
create a bedroom that meets more than just your
need for sleep if you take your emotional needs
into consideration when designing the space.
Beds and Enclosure
You can create a personal sanctuary by enclosing
a bed with canopies of luxurious fabrics. You
can get a sense of secure enclosure by
completely surrounding the bed with canopies and
testers which were originally used to keep out
drafts. You can get a suggestion of enclosure
through the use of either partial canopies or
both a headboard and a footboard on your bed
frame. The benefit of a partial enclosure is
that you still have view of the room. You can
get comfort by the almost womb like environment
created by a footboard.
Of course some people will prefer the openness
they feel without any obstructions or clutter in
their sleeping space. Take some time to figure
out what will make you most comfortable and
secure: totally enclosed by layers of fabrics,
partially enclosed with a headboard and
footboard, or totally open without any
enclosure.
There are some options when it comes to the foot
of the bed. Rather than a footboard some people
may prefer to have a love seat, bed footrest, or
a padded chest at the end of the bed. These
options will give you added seating or storage
as well as a partial enclosure.
Bed Dressings
You can create a romantic environment with black
satin sheets, as well as help block out light
that could disturb your sleep in the morning.
Another great color choice for bedding is forest
green as it imparts a feeling of peace and
serenity. You can capture the luxury of a fine
hotel by using white cotton sheets with a high
thread count. There is nothing quite as soothing
as a cool white cotton sheet on a hot summer
night. To make it easier for you to make the bed
you should replace your comforter and dust
ruffle with a bedspread that reaches the floor.
Don’t worry about filling your bed with extra
pillows. Their only real function is to create
clutter and more work when making the bed.
You can create a bedroom that meets more than
just your need for sleep if you take your
emotional needs into consideration when
designing the space. You will end up with a
space that is comfortable and joyful.
