Bunk Bed History
A
short but interesting history lesson on bunk
beds.
When you stack one bed on top of another it
is referred to as a bunk bed. They are a great
solution any time you have two people sharing
one room with limited floor space, such as a
children’s bedroom or a college residence hall.
Bunk beds usually have four supports, one at
each corner. While most bunk beds come equipped
with a ladder to reach the top bunk, many
children find more creative ways to climb into
the top bed. There is typically a rail that
surrounds the top bed so that no one falls out
while they are sleeping. It is recommended that
children under six years not use the top bunk,
as using the ladder may be dangerous for them.
You can find bunk beds any place where floor
space is in short supply, including hostels,
ships, and garrisons.
